*Background*
The Revs Institute, a 501c3 not-for-profit educational foundation, based at the Collier Collection in Naples, FL, has partnered with the Stanford University Libraries to digitize, archive and publish online one of the worlds largest collections of materials related to automotive history. The Revs Institute library collection consists of nearly two million items, and includes photographs, books, journals, paper archives, promotional material, realia and more. The Revs Institute intends to scan as high quality images a large portion of the archive by establishing on-site scanning capabilities as well as working with third-party scanning vendors. The Stanford University Libraries will archive the scanned materials and build an online digital library to make the collection accessible.
*Position Summary*
The Revs Institute is seeking a technical Project Manager to oversee the development of the worlds largest digital library of materials related to automotive history. Qualified applicants should have strong project management skills, and experience with mass digitization and digital archiving. Applicants are encouraged from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to libraries, museums, archives, online publishing, digital photography, commercial scanning and information technology fields.
This position is an exciting opportunity for a technical Project Manager with knowledge, interest and enthusiasm for the historical significance of the automobile.
This is a 4 year, fixed term position and will require some travel outside Florida.
*Tasks & Responsibilities*
The Digital Library Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating all activities at the Naples, FL based Revs Institute related to this project. Specific tasks and responsibilities will include:
* Hiring and supervising staff. The Project Manager will hire and supervise new staff to prepare collections for scanning, operate scanning equipment, perform quality control of project outputs and catalog digitized materials. The Project Manager will coordinate the daily activities of all project staff.
* Establishing and overseeing onsite scanning operations. The Project Manager will work with the Stanford University Libraries to establish scanning capabilities onsite at the Revs Institute in Naples, FL. This will include selecting, purchasing and installing scanning equipment and software, and designing operational and quality control workflows to digitize a variety of material types. This also includes the creation and use of tracking systems to coordinate digitization work. Once established, the Project Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the scanning lab.
* Coordinating with scanning vendors. The Project Manager will manage the Revs Institutes relationship with scanning vendors that will digitize portions of the collection. The Project Manager will write and distribute requests for proposals (RFP), and will lead the process of selecting vendors. After vendors are selected, the Project Manager will coordinate offsite scanning activities, including preparation of materials to be sent to the vendor, shipping of materials, receipt and quality control of digital files produced by the vendor, and general oversight of the contract progress.
* Maintaining project plans, and tracking and reporting on project status. The Project Manager will maintain detailed project plans, and set and track milestones. The Project Manager will be responsible for detailed project documentation, including regular status reports.
* Project communication. The Project Manager will facilitate all communication with other Revs Institute staff members, and external project partners. This includes scheduling and facilitating meetings and conference calls, maintaining active email correspondence related to the project, and contributing to project related blogs, wikis and websites. The Project Manager will work closely with the Revs Institute Librarian. The Project Manager will also be the key liaison between the Revs Institute in Naples, FL and the project team at the Stanford University Libraries.
*Knowledge and Skills*
* Demonstrated technical project organizational and management skills in complex environments, including ability to create and implement project plans and schedules, develop system design documents, establish high performance standards, and deliver quality results.
* Technical knowledge and skills in the area of photography and digital imaging, including but not limited to studio setup and the operation of digital cameras and scanners.
* Proficiency with a variety of imaging software and imaging systems.
* Sufficient computer systems, storage and networking knowledge to implement and manage imaging systems in a heterogeneous hardware and software environment.
* Familiarity with metadata standards for library materials.
* Familiarity with principles and standards related to providing online access to and long-term preservation of digitized content.
* Understanding of preservation issues involved in reformatting print materials. Specifically training and experience handling rare and fragile special collections materials during the scanning process.
* Demonstrated highly effective interpersonal skills, with an ability to work with all levels of staff, vendors and consultants.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
* Demonstrated ability to meet schedules and deadlines.
* Highly organized and detail-oriented.
* Experience working in a large archival or library digitization project desirable.

The two early stage researchers will work on two distinct but related fields of research within the CP7.0 project: * Position 1: Spectral modelling for multi-channel printers and displays. * Position 2: Design and development of spectral colour management workflows.
*****Conditions***** The positions are remunerated according to salary level 48 in the Norwegian national salary scheme, gross NOK 391 300 per annum, of which 2% is deducted for the State Pension scheme.
*****Eligibility regulations***** In accordance to the eligibility regulations for Marie Curie ITNs imposed by the EU, the early stage researchers to be appointed must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the host organisation's country (Norway) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the appointment date. Short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.
